FFE - Federal Pony Guide

The programme

The Galops® Poneys are designed for children aged 3 to 10. They are organised into 2 cycles of 6 stages, guiding young riders through their learning journey up to Galop® 2 level. Cycle 1 includes the Bronze, Silver and Gold Poneys®. Cycle 2 includes the Bronze, Silver and Gold Galops®. The Galops® Poneys take into account the key aspects of a child's physiological, psychological, intellectual and social development.

Knowledge and skills

Each Galop® in the pony pathway includes 5 sections: knowledge sections covering theoretical understanding, and practical sections covering hands-on skills.

These mirror the 5 sections found in the rider Galops®:

• General knowledge
• Knowledge of the pony
• Equestrian practice on foot
• Caring for the pony and its equipment
• Equestrian practice on pony
