Norton Pro - Running reins strap/rope havana
- Running reins, strap and rope, with snap hooks
- Girth attachment
- Running reins are also known as sliding reins. They are much longer than standard reins, attaching to the girth, passing through the bit rings, and returning to the rider's hands. The fixed attachment sits at the chest (or on either side of the saddle). The reins slide freely through the bit rings — either when the rider adjusts their length, or when the horse moves its head.
- When correctly fitted, they define the maximum height the neck can be raised — the point the head should not exceed. In fact, they are not "adjusted" in the way normal reins are; they only come into contact if the horse raises its neck above a carefully chosen point. The head-neck angle should remain open — running reins are not intended to bring the horse onto the bit.
