Norton Pro - Black Strap/Rope German Reins
- German reins, strap and rope, with snap hooks
- Girth attachment
- German reins are also known as sliding reins. They are much longer than standard reins, running from the girth, through the bit rings, and back up to the rider's hands. The fixed attachment sits at the chest (or on either side of the saddle). The reins slide through the bit rings — either when the rider adjusts their length or when the horse moves its head.
- When properly fitted, they define the maximum elevation of the neck — the height the head should not exceed. They are not "adjusted" in the traditional sense; they only come into contact when the horse raises its neck above a chosen point. The head-neck angle should remain open. German reins are not meant to bring the horse on the bit.
