TdeT - Plain brown rope and leather running reins
- These reins are made up of two parts: Nylon, highly resistant to wear, allowing optimal sliding through the bit rings, and leather, for hand comfort
- A girth attachment is included for girths without a ring
- Running reins are also known as sliding reins. They are much longer than regular reins, running from the girth, through the bit rings, and back up to the rider's hands. The fixed attachment sits at the chest (or on either side of the saddle). The reins slide freely through the bit rings — either when the rider adjusts their length, or when the horse moves its head.
- When properly fitted, they define the maximum neck elevation — the height the head should not exceed. In fact, they are not "adjusted" in the traditional sense; they only come into tension when the horse raises its neck above a chosen point. The head-neck angle should remain open — running reins are not meant to bring the horse on the bit.
