- Pelham 16 mm double-jointed, with lower shank section of 4.5 cm. Targeted and effective aid through the action on the tongue, neck, and lower jaw.
- Lever effect on the neck that can be adjusted depending on the buckle position. This mouthpiece is often used with Pelham straps; for higher levels of training, using 2 pairs of reins is recommended.
- The Pelham bit is often recommended for better control of forward-going or hot-blooded horses. It produces more of a lowering effect when the reins are attached to the bottom ring, and a slightly lifting effect when attached to the large ring.
The longer the shanks, the greater the leverage effect.
The Pelham can be used with 2 or 4 reins. It can also be used without a curb chain to soften its action on the mouth.
A leather strap can also be used as a replacement for the metal curb chain.
