- Helps ensure correct positioning of horses during work
- Can be used mounted or in-hand
- As with all auxiliary reins, it is important not to set it too short — especially at the start of a session. The goal is not to restrict the horse, which would cause resistance, but to establish a framework within which the horse can find its balance freely.
- The gogue should be adjusted gradually during work. The aim is to allow the horse to stretch its neck forward and horizontally, and to lift its back.
- Recommended for horses with an ewe neck, a hollow back, or those affected by compressive riding.
- The gogue remains a rehabilitation tool. Its use should be temporary and adapted to a specific stage of the horse's training — it cannot be permanent. The gogue also helps limit resistances linked to back pain, but under no circumstances does it resolve them.
