Norton - Running Reins Leather/Cord Black
- Running reins in leather with cord section and snap hooks.
- Girth attachment.
- Running reins are also known as draw reins. They are considerably longer than regular reins – they run from the girth, through the bit rings, and back up to the rider's hands. The fixed attachment is at the breastplate (or on either side of the saddle). The reins slide through the bit rings whenever the rider adjusts their length or the horse moves its head.
- When correctly adjusted, they define the maximum degree of neck elevation – the height the head should not exceed. They are not "adjusted" in the usual sense of normal reins; they only come into tension when the horse raises its neck above a deliberately chosen point. The head-neck angle must remain open; running reins are in no way intended to bring the horse into the contact.
