Metalab - Pinchless Leather Pelham Long Shanks
- The Metalab Pinchless Leather Pelham closely resembles a double bridle bit.
- It always features a large ring at the mouthpiece, allowing a second pair of reins or a pair of coupling reins to be attached.
- The action and severity of the pelham depend primarily on where the reins are attached.
- When used on the top ring, the pelham has a slight lifting effect.
- This bit is slightly stronger than a snaffle. When used on the bottom ring, the pelham has a lowering effect — making it a powerful bit in this configuration.
- The "pinchless" joint is designed to prevent accidental pinching of the tongue or the corners of the mouth. It helps build the horse's confidence in the rider's hand, improving connection and relaxation.
- The pelham bit is often recommended for better control of strong, hot-blooded horses. It tends to have a lowering effect when the reins are attached to the bottom ring, and a slight lifting effect when attached to the large ring.
- The longer the shanks, the stronger the leverage effect.
The pelham can be used with 2 or 4 reins. It can also be used without a curb chain to soften its action on the mouth.
A leather curb strap can be used as an alternative to a metal curb chain.
Composition
- Leather-wrapped stainless steel
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water after each use until no residue remains.
- Do not use if the bit shows any signs of damage (dents, rust, etc.).
