• The running martingale consists of two straps: one attaches to the girth at one end, and at the other end splits into two branches fitted with rings that slide along the reins. The second strap is a neck strap that goes around the horse's neck to keep the martingale in place. Avoid setting it too short, as this may restrict the horse's neck movement.
