Jump'In - Short-shanked Pelham bit with straight leather mouthpiece
- Mouthpiece thickness: 21 mm
- Rings: 35 mm
Use
- A compromise between a snaffle and a curb bit
- More or less pronounced lever effect depending on the shank length and curb chain adjustment
- Can be used directly, with connectors, or with four reins
- The mouthpiece is slightly thick, but the leather will soften completely once in the horse's mouth
- The straight leather mouthpiece is a soft, natural and comfortable bit
- Prevents an uncomfortably cold contact in the mouth
- Requires very little maintenance – rinse thoroughly and oil as soon as the leather stiffens, using paraffin oil or a food-grade oil.
- The Pelham bit is often recommended for better control of strong or hot-blooded horses. It has more of a lowering effect when the reins are attached to the lower ring, and a slightly lifting effect when attached to the larger ring.
- The longer the shanks, the stronger the lever effect.
The Pelham can be used with 2 or 4 reins. It can also be used without a curb chain to soften its action on the mouth.
You can also use a leather strap in place of the metal curb chain.
Composition
Leather reinforced on the inside with a nylon strap
Leather, rubber, and foam bits are not guaranteed against biting, even from the very first use.
