Jump'In - Short shank roller pelham bit
- Rings: 50 mm
- Mouthpiece diameter: 22 mm
Use
- Acts on the horse's balance by encouraging it to rebalance and shift its weight onto the hindquarters.
- Requires specific snaffle cheekpieces
- The larger the rings, the stronger the lifting action
- The ports help channel and assist with steering
- Can be used directly on elevator cheekpieces, with roundings, or with four reins
- The roller mouthpiece encourages the horse to work consistently on the bit
- Ideal for horses that are over-bitted, or for a rider looking to re-educate their horse's response to the bit
- The pelham bit is often recommended for stronger, more forward-going horses. It produces a lowering effect when the reins are attached to the bottom ring, and a slight lifting effect when attached to the large ring.
- The longer the shanks, the greater the leverage effect.
The pelham can be used with 2 or 4 reins. It can also be used without a curb chain to soften its action on the mouth.
A leather curb strap can be used as an alternative to the metal curb chain.
