Jump'In - Short-Shank Double-Jointed Pelham Bit with Tongue Relief
- Shanks: 45 mm
- Mouthpiece thickness: 17 mm
Usage
- A versatile compromise between a double bridle and a snaffle
- Leverage effect varies depending on shank length and curb chain adjustment
- Can be ridden on a single rein, with rein connectors, or on four reins
- Induces a poll flexion and pressure on the bars of the mouth
- The double-jointed mouthpiece relieves pressure on the palate compared to a single-jointed bit
- The wide tongue relief creates generous space for the horse's tongue without putting pressure on the palate, allowing for better breathing and a more consistent, relaxed way of going.
- The Pelham bit is often recommended for stronger, more forward horses. It produces a lowering effect when the reins are attached to the lower ring, and a slightly lifting effect when attached to the large ring.
- The longer the shanks, the stronger the leverage effect.
The Pelham can be used with 2 or 4 reins. It can also be used without a curb chain to soften its action on the mouth.
A leather curb strap can be used as an alternative to the metal curb chain.
