Jump'In - Roller Gag Bit
- Rings: 90 mm
- Mouthpiece thickness: 22 mm
Use
- Acts on the horse's balance by encouraging it to rebalance and shift weight onto the hindquarters.
- Requires specific bridle cheekpieces
- The larger the rings, the stronger the gag action
- Can be used directly on gag cheekpieces, with bit connectors, or with four reins
- The roller mouthpiece encourages the horse to work consistently on the bit
- Ideal for horses that are overly sensitive in the mouth, or for riders looking to re-educate their horse's response to the bit
- This bit is designed for horses that are heavy on the forehand and tend to lean strongly on the hand. The aim is to encourage the horse to lift its withers and shift weight onto the hindquarters. Of course, the "rebalancing" effect can only be achieved if the horse has sufficient muscle tone and back suppleness. It should therefore be avoided with young horses or those that are not yet physically prepared.
- The bit is attached to the bridle by rope cheekpieces that slide through two notches on the rings. The gag cheekpieces act on the poll via the headpiece of the bridle.
- This bit requires a sensitive hand, as it often encourages the horse to come behind the vertical. It is therefore best suited to experienced riders.
