Jump'In - Pelham Bit Short Shanks Tongue Relief
- Rings: 50 mm
- Mouthpiece thickness: 17 mm
Usage
- Acts on the horse's balance, encouraging it to rebalance and shift its weight onto the hindquarters.
- Requires specific cheekpiece fittings
- The larger the rings, the stronger the lifting action
- The ports help channel and assist with steering
- Can be used directly on elevator cheekpieces, with bit converters, or with four reins
- The straight mouthpiece with tongue relief allows for good contact while providing some action when needed
- The Pelham bit is often recommended for better control of strong, hot-blooded horses. It produces a lowering effect when the reins are attached to the lower ring, and a slight lifting effect when attached to the larger ring.
- The longer the shanks, the greater the leverage effect.
The Pelham can be used with 2 or 4 reins. It can also be used without a curb chain to soften its action on the mouth.
A leather strap can be used as an alternative to the metal curb chain.
