Jump'In - One Hazelnut German Reins
- German leather rope reins
- One Collection
- German reins are also known as sliding reins. They are significantly longer than regular reins, running from the girth, through the bit rings, and up to the rider's hands. The fixed attachment sits at the chest (or on either side of the saddle). The reins slide freely through the bit rings — either when the rider adjusts their length, or when the horse moves its head.
- When properly fitted, they define the maximum elevation of the neck — the height the horse's head should not exceed. They are not "adjusted" in the traditional sense; they only come into tension when the horse raises its neck above a carefully chosen point. The head-neck angle should remain open — German reins are not intended to bring the horse on the bit.
