Jump'In - Leather Hackamore Short Shanks
- Short shanks
- Leather nosepiece
Usage
- Leverage action on the nose and jaw only
- Ideally used with the Jump'In Hackamore bridle
- The hackamore is ideal for horses that cannot tolerate a bit in the mouth, that fight against the hand, or that cannot be ridden with a traditional bit.
- The soft leather noseband hackamore with short shanks suits riders and horses of all levels.
- The nosepiece can be covered with nasaline, vetrap, or other padding to soften the contact area.
- Removable and adjustable leather nosepiece
- Leather curb chain
- When the rider applies pressure, the noseband presses down on the horse's nasal bone through leverage. As with all hackamores, the longer the shanks, the stronger the action.
- This is a fairly severe bit that can be challenging for some riders, as you need to maintain contact on both reins at the same time. If you turn on a single rein, the hackamore turns… but not the horse. That said, with short shanks and a comfortable noseband, it can create a sense of tension in the contact — which may be appreciated with more sensitive horses.
