Jump'In - Leather Hackamore
- Long shanks
- Leather noseband
Usage
- Lever effect on the nose bridge and lower jaw only
- Ideally used with the Jump'In Hackamore bridle
- The hackamore is suited to horses that cannot tolerate bit contact in the mouth, those that resist the hand, or horses that cannot be ridden with a bit
- The hackamore with soft leather noseband and long shanks is suited to experienced amateur riders or professionals
- The noseband can be covered with a nasaline, vetrap, or other padding to soften the contact area
- Removable and adjustable leather noseband
- Leather curb chain
- When the rider applies an aid, the noseband presses on the horse's nose bridge through a lever effect. Again, the longer the shanks, the stronger the action.
- This is quite a severe and demanding piece of equipment for some riders, as contact must be maintained on both reins at the same time. If you turn on a single rein, the hackamore turns — but not the horse. That said, with short shanks and a comfortable noseband, it can create a sense of tension in the contact, which can be appreciated with certain sensitive horses.
