Jump'In - Sweet Iron Ball Needle Elevator Bit
- Rings: 50 mm
- Mouthpiece thickness: 12 mm
Use
- Acts on the horse's balance by encouraging it to rebalance and shift its weight onto the hindquarters.
- Requires specific elevator cheekpieces
- The larger the rings, the stronger the elevator action
- The needle shanks help channel and assist with steering
- Can be used directly on elevator cheekpieces, with bit converters, or in a four-rein setup
- The ball mouthpiece divides the points of contact
- This bit is designed for horses that are heavy on the forehand and tend to lean strongly on the hand. The goal is to encourage the horse to lift its withers and shift weight onto its hindquarters. Of course, the "rebalancing" effect can only be achieved if the horse has sufficient back muscle and suppleness. Best avoided on young horses or those that are not yet physically prepared.
- The bit is attached to the bridle via rope cheekpieces that slide through two slots on the rings. The elevator cheekpieces act on the poll through the bridle headpiece.
- This bit requires soft, educated hands as it often encourages the horse to overbend. It is therefore best suited to experienced riders.
