Composition
Sweet Iron
54% carbon and 46% manganese.
Sweet Iron bits oxidise when exposed to air and moisture, forming a thin layer of rust with a naturally sweet taste that encourages saliva production. As the horse salivates more, it accepts the bit more readily. The oxidation process gradually changes the colour to grey/brown.
