Jump'In - Double-jointed elevator Pelham bit
- Rings: 70 mm
- Mouthpiece thickness: 17 mm
Usage
- A relatively strong action combining the effect of the Pelham — lever action on the cervical vertebrae and the curb chain — with the elevator action that rebalances the horse and shifts its weight onto the hindquarters.
- The double-jointed mouthpiece is relatively mild
- This mouthpiece should not be used by just anyone — recommended for a well-experienced amateur or a professional rider
- This bit is designed to help horses that are heavy on the forehand and tend to lean strongly on the hand. The goal is to encourage the horse to lift its withers and shift weight onto its hindquarters. Of course, the "rebalancing" effect can only be achieved if the horse has sufficient back musculature and suppleness. Best avoided on young horses or those that are not yet physically prepared.
- The bit is attached to the bridle via rope cheekpieces that slide through two slots on the rings. The elevator cheekpieces act on the poll through the bridle's headpiece.
- This bit requires a sensitive hand, as it often encourages the horse to overbend. It is therefore reserved for experienced riders.
