• The Spanish bit is used with a curb chain. It resembles a classic bit, but the rings are shaped like a half-moon, with notches where the reins are attached.
• The Spanish bit is considered one of the more severe bits and should only be used by experienced hands. It is particularly recommended for very forward-going horses that are difficult to control, and helps achieve a more natural poll flexion.
