• This bit is designed for horses that are heavy on the forehand and tend to lean strongly on the rider's hand. The aim is to encourage the horse to lift its withers and shift weight onto its hindquarters. The "rebalancing" effect can only be achieved if the horse has sufficient muscle development and back suppleness — it should therefore be avoided with young horses or those that are not physically well-prepared.
• The bit is attached to the bridle via sliding rope cheekpieces that run through two slots on the rings. The elevator cheekpieces act on the poll through the bridle's headpiece.
• This bit requires soft, educated hands, as it can easily encourage the horse to overbend. It is therefore reserved for experienced riders.
