• This bit is designed for horses that are heavy on the forehand and tend to lean strongly on the rider's hand. The aim is to encourage the horse to lift its withers and shift weight onto its hindquarters. Of course, the "rebalancing" effect can only be achieved if the horse has sufficient back muscle and suppleness. Best avoided on young horses or those that are not yet physically prepared.
• The bit is attached to the bridle via rope cheekpieces that slide through two slots on the rings. The elevator cheekpieces act on the poll through the bridle's headpiece.
• This bit requires soft, educated hands, as it often encourages the horse to overbend. It is therefore best suited to experienced riders.
