• This bit is designed to help with horses that are heavy on the forehand and tend to lean strongly on the hand. The aim is to encourage the horse to lift its withers and shift weight onto its hindquarters. Of course, this "rebalancing" effect can only be achieved if the horse has sufficient back muscle and suppleness — it should be avoided on young horses or those that are not yet physically prepared.
• The bit is attached to the bridle via sliding rope cheekpieces that run through two slots on the rings. The gag cheekpieces act on the poll through the bridle's headpiece.
• This bit requires soft, educated hands, as it can easily encourage a horse to overbend. It is therefore best suited to experienced riders.
