• The Spanish bit is used with a curb chain. It resembles a classic bit but the rings are half-moon shaped with notches to which the reins are attached.
• The Spanish bit is among the stronger bits and should only be used by experienced hands. It is recommended for very forward-going horses that are difficult to control. It makes it easier to achieve a lowering of the poll.
