- The running martingale is a rein aid made up of 2 straps: one attaches on one side to the girth, and on the other side splits into 2 parts fitted with rings that slide through the reins. The second strap is a neck strap that goes around the horse's neck to keep the rein aid in place. Avoid adjusting it too short, as this may restrict the movement of the horse's neck.
- The running martingale is not meant to lower the horse's head, but to prevent head tossing.
