How to choose the right size?

Saddle pad size is crucial: a pad that is too short will allow the girth to rub directly against the horse's skin, while one that is too long will restrict shoulder movement. The horse's conformation also plays a key role. For a prominent wither, choose a pad with sufficient wither clearance to avoid any compression. For a broad or stocky back, an anatomical or ergonomic model will better follow the horse's contours. For a hollow or narrow back, a lightly padded pad with foam or gel inserts will compensate for any irregularities. For a horse or cob, choose horse size; for a pony under 1m35–1m40, pony size is recommended. The thickness of the pad should also be matched to the saddle used, to avoid creating any imbalance.
