Whether they are classic , original , sober , colorful , printed , with rhinestones, with beads, in velvet, etc. We are ALL fans of 🧡 CARPET 🧡... Because yes, very often “ rider ” rhymes with “ collector ” of saddle pads !
Obviously to keep my ✨favorite✨ carpet looking like new for as long as possible, you'll have to clean it quite frequently 🧼! Because beyond being a real fashion piece which is an entirely part of my outfit every time I ride, it is above all the one that we send to the front line to absorb the abundant perspiration and the millions of hairs from our four-legged friends. !
How often should we fully wash our carpets? 🧐 Well it depends on our frequency of use, but also on the conditions in which we use it (in summer ☀️, we will wash closer together because horses are much more likely to wet the jersey 💦)!
Basically, washing my carpet systematically is not really useful 🤗, but on the other hand we shouldn't wait until it can stand up on its own like a little tripod 😅
So, let's roll up our sleeves and GO, let's go 🎯 to maintain these pretty rugs and make them as new as when I received them in my Ohlala love package ( minus the silk ribbon perhaps 🤣)!
To begin with, a quick brush 🧹 every day will do more than a big cleaning once a year... If not once every two years (you have to be honest, we're always lazy !) 😑
So, as soon as I have finished my grueling session of getting into the saddle, I come and dry my carpet carefully upside down and not in direct sunlight 🌞 (it should not discolor though!), to let part of the perspiration will evaporate, that's what won't stay soaked in my liners!
Once completely dry , I shake it vigorously to make some of the hairs fly away then I arm myself with a brush , whether it is a soft brush , a cap or (the best of the best for me for this job -there) a Magic Brush ! A little stroke inside my carpet, without going too forcefully 🌪 so as not to damage the seams, and I am free of a large majority of the hairs! 🤜🏼🤛🏼
If each time we set foot on land we adopt these two simple little actions , this will allow us to space out the big cleaning!
To maintain the breathable properties 🌬 of my carpet, it is essential to give it a deep bath in my washing machine 🧽 from time to time (yes, quite simply!)...
We slide them into the drum, we add natural detergent 🧴 (but no softener so our horses don't have an allergic reaction !), we set the cycle to 30 degrees MAXIMUM and above all WITHOUT A DRYER !
For drying ? Simply out in the open ! 💨
THE CHEF'S TIP : we also slip in the LeMieux washing balls which will allow us to remove even more hair and stains , but also to make our carpet more flexible 🥰 and that is clearly the aim of the operation! 🙈
That's it, that's it 👏! We left for some career exploits , immortalized for the networks, with a carpet newer than new and a top look!
3. ELBOW OIL
If you prefer, you can also wash your rugs by hand ! A soft brush, Marseille soap , a little patience and energy in your arms and here is an equally conclusive result :)
