For this International Women's Rights Day , 💗 we wanted to talk about a subject that is particularly close to our hearts for this day: cyberharassment . 🤳
In the horse riding world , we are lucky to be able to follow day by day on social networks 📱 the adventures of young girls , young women and adults 👩💻 who share their daily lives at home with their horses . 🐴 Unfortunately, following certain posts or situations, we also see in some cases a large number of messages , 💬 sometimes harmless, sometimes very harsh ... And often, in the wave of positive comments, it is the latter which will stand out the most. 😪
What is cyberbullying? 🤔
Today we no longer speak of harassment but of “cyberharassment”! With the arrival of the internet 🌐 harassment can circulate 🔄 more and more quickly and unfortunately without having any control over it afterwards.
Phone, internet, SMS, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, ... It is so much easier to hide behind a screen and a nickname to insult 🗯 people, write malicious comments 💬 on a photo or take images 📸 without a person's knowledge.
Too often, harassers have no idea of the impact that harassment can have on victims who suffer in silence . 🤐
How to fight against it? 💪
You need to know that we can all take action! In fact, harassment is based on a three-way relationship : the victim , the harasser and the witnesses who too often remain silent... So be very careful ⚠️ to the content that you can relay on the internet and if you witness a harassment, do not hesitate to help this person or talk to an adult about it.
Who to call to discuss it? 📞 💬
It is sometimes difficult to confide in someone close to you about the harassment we are victims of. You can then choose to call 3018 . ☎️ This is a toll-free, anonymous and confidential helpline number . It is accessible by telephone 📆 6 days a week , 🕦 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., on 3018.fr by Live Chat, via Messenger and WhatsApp . People are available to 👂 listen to you, help you, advise you and support you in the face of digital dangers.
The government also offers a site for reporting illegal behavior or content : www.internet-signalement.gouv.fr/
