Each horse is unique , and you have to consider whether or not it needs rugs adapted to its age, its potential pathologies, the intensity of its work under the saddle, its type of life. ..
Indeed, a horse living in the meadow without shelter will not be covered in the same way as a horse living in the box 🙈
Some horses can cope perfectly well with spending the winter outdoors without any covering, but, depending on certain parameters, others will need help to avoid losing too much weight, or to dry off more quickly after a work session ✨
What blankets for a shorn horse? 🌈
If you have chosen to clip your horse, he must be well covered to face the cold when he goes out to the paddock, or when you work him both on the lunge and under the saddle.
Mowing should allow him to sweat less during exercise , and therefore to be dry more quickly 🥰
But then, which blanket should you choose for different times of the day and different temperatures? 😇
It will indeed be necessary to adjust the weight depending on the weather . For a completely clipped horse, we recommend:
- For a temperature of 10 degrees or more : 0g waterproof cover or no cover
- For a temperature between 5 and 10 degrees : waterproof or 150g
- For a temperature of 0 to 5 degrees : 200g or more
- For a temperature below 0 degrees : 300g or more

Our wishlist of blankets for a shorn horse 💖
We start with the waterproof cover, perfect for dealing with rainy days, windy days or the cold which slowly begins to appear in autumn 🍁
