Following our last Instagram FAQ, many of you asked us for advice on care products based on your current needs (mud fever, thrush, ...) ⛄ So, why not create a little article to share our answers with everyone? 🤔 Maybe you are also asking yourself the same question 🤩
SOS MUD FEVER 😭
Winter is back and so is the "mud fever"... ⚡ You may have already experienced it or maybe a friend of yours from your stables has, and it's not the most pleasant! 🙅
It is actually a skin condition that can affect the hind limbs of your horse, particularly the pasterns (the area between the knee and the hoof) 😩 It is generally caused by a combination of moisture, mud, and bacteria present in the environment 🌧️
The various symptoms to recognize it:
➡️ Thickening and swelling of the skin
➡️ Formation of thick scabs
➡️ Itching and discomfort
➡️ Hair loss in the affected area
To avoid this, it is advisable to keep your horse in clean, dry areas, to avoid leaving it in muddy areas for too long, and to regularly check its limbs for any early signs of mud fever so that it can be treated as soon as possible 💪
To treat it, you can gently clean the affected area with lukewarm water and a gentle soap 🧼 Once the area is completely dry, you can apply the Natural'Balm healing balm from Natural'Innov. It is highly recommended in cases of mud fever for its soothing and healing action 🔥
⚠️ In severe cases, consult your veterinarian for appropriate advice and medications ⚠️
SICK OF THRUSH 🧑🦰
Another very common problem we encounter in horses during this period... 😓 Easy to notice, your horse's frog will become soft, sometimes infected, and then emit a bad odor 😷
This can be caused by various factors, such as wet and dirty environmental conditions 🌧️
To treat the rotten frog, we recommend that you regularly clean the feet of your horse to remove dirt and use a brush to thoroughly clean the sole, the frog, and the gaps ✨
Once the area is cleaned, you can apply our favorite product that you love as much as we do to treat the frogs: Kevin Bacon's - Hoof Solution for rotten frogs 💥
Very easy to use, you just need to apply it to the frogs and softened soles and voilà, you're done! 🤩
⚠️ It is important to treat the rotten frog quickly to prevent it from progressing and causing more serious complications. Regular follow-up with a veterinarian and a farrier can help maintain your horse's foot health. ⚠️
THE PERFECT OINTMENT FOR WINTER ☃️
Let's stay in the world of our horse's feet with this special Winter ointment: Ungula Naturalis - Black Winter Hoof Ointment 🧤
Why this one and not another? 🤐 Simply because:
✅ Easy to apply thanks to its soft texture even in negative temperatures 💪
✅ Pentrates deeply into the hoof, nourishes and softens the horn as well as the frog 🐴
✅ Sanitizes the frogs, sole, and hoof box without drying them out 🙌
✅ Disinfectant action thanks to the combination of four active ingredients & significant hoof growth 🔥
